ENCHANTING AFRICA

Day 1: Arusha

On arrival at the airport, meet our experienced guide. You will then be chauffeured via the bustling town of Arusha to Arusha Coffee Lodge a perfect haven hidden amongst one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations. Overnight at Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Day 2 & 3: Tarangire National Park

After a sumptuous breakfast, you will be transferred to Arusha airport. Fly to Tarangire – Tanzania’s best-kept secret on the northern safari circuit. Your guide will be waiting for you on arrival. Embark on game viewing as you are transferred to Sanctuary Swala Camp located in the heart of Masai country and a remote corner of the Tarangire, in total seclusion amongst giant acacia trees and looking out beyond the flat savannah. The accommodation in tents is wonderful, the scrumptious meals served in the main dining deck are excellent and beautifully presented and most importantly the staff are warm and solicitous.

Activities at Swala are based around standard daytime game drives. The low volume of visitors to the park offers a truly unique and private experience and the customised camp’s open safari vehicles offer unobstructed viewing and great photography opportunities. Highlight of the tour after the day game drives is the Sundowner in the middle of the Tarangire bush. As the sun swiftly sinks, your setting becomes illuminated by a magnificent log fire. Once you have settled into your surroundings let the chef introduce you to traditional Swahili fare and experience a memorable evening under the African night sky!

Day 4 & 5: Ngorongoro Highlands

Bid farewell to the new friends at Swala Camp as you depart to magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the largest and the most perfect volcanic crater on Earth.

Arrive for lunch at your lodge and spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the lodge facilities. On the second day, descend down the crater for an enchanting game viewing drive. Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, some 25,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes and forests of ‘the land that time forgot’, dominated by enormous bull elephants, rhinos and lions.

Day 6, 7 & 8: Serengeti National Park

Early this morning you will be transferred to the Manyara airstrip to catch the morning scheduled flight to your next destination; the Serengeti, undoubtedly one of the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value.

On arrival at the private Kusini airstrip, your guides will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to the Kusini Camp, approximately a 30 minute drive with game viewing en route. This is one of the greatest places in the world to see large predators – lion, cheetah and leopard often lie in the kopjes nearby camp. Between January and March the great migration returns and wildebeest and zebra cover the plains as they give birth to their young. The treeless plains in this area provide the perfect habitat for cheetah who have made this area of the park their permanent home. The experienced guides know every inch of the territory around the camp and this remote corner of the vast eco-system never disappoints – buffalo, elephant, the rare wild dog, hyena and giraffe, all can be seen close to the camp. There are no other camps round here so adventurous travellers can be sure of unobstructed viewing from the camp’s customised safari vehicles.

Day 9: Arusha – Departure

Wake up at sunrise for your last game drive; who knows, you may see some wildlife that you hadn’t seen before. Return to the camp and collect your bags and transfer to the airstrip for your Scheduled flight to Arusha airport.
